Tablut - Viking chess - looking in the archive

This game board was my first venture into leatherworks, a game board for a small version of the Viking boardgame Hnefatafl. The smaller one is called Tablut.

The leather piece acts as both the game board and as the pouch for packing it away, the pieces are different colored rocks I collected at a beach. The lines are just scored into the leather and painted with acrylic paint.

The project was inspired by a visit to the Viking museum outside Roskilde in Denmark.
